What is Ape Living?Ape Living is an approach to natural living and low-tech biomimicry, inspired by our closest cousins in the wild and developed by Zander Hathaway. By better understanding ourselves and our fellow apes, we aim to cultivate greater health, happiness, and freedom for all.
Indeed, there are remarkable differences between humans, bonobos, chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas, especially with respect to our aquatic adaptations, domestication, and use of modern technologies. However, there is far more that we all have in common, both physically and psychologically. The most holistic approaches to healthy and sustainable living -- such as raw plant-based nutrition, fruit forestry, permaculture, wild foraging, barefooting, grounding, present moment meditation, mindfulness, deep breathing, bodyweight exercise (like yoga, calisthenics, and rock climbing), naturism (nudity), natural hygiene, sunbathing, the Continuum Concept, unschooling, sharing circles, volunteerism/anarchy, natural law, neo-tribalism, and ecovillage living -- are all being modeled for us (to some degree) by our fellow apes in the wild. Ape Living explores how we, highly domesticated "civilized" apes, can rewild ourselves and live in greater harmony with nature. The concept is simple but its application in modern society can be complex and challenging. Ape Advisors are natural health coaches and experts whose services and resources are here to support you. For general inquiries or to find out which advisors might be best suited to assist you, feel free to send us a contact us. Ape Retreats provide empowering transformational experiences for domesticated humans. In support of non-human apes and their surrounding ecosystems, ten percent of event proceeds are donated to organizations that protect and rehabilitate wild apes and their wild habitats.
